The SPOT Successful Partners 4 Outreach to Teens, the new Teens in Action youth center located at 9068 Socorro Rd. in the Ysleta community of El Paso, TX, opened its doors to serve the community on March 31, 2007 with a festive grand opening. This event realized the culmination of 4 hard years of work, that together with the opening of the skate park in Ysleta Park, are the two crowning jewels of Teens in Action members. The site, previously known as THE BUILDING, was leased to Teens in Action by the City of El Paso, Parks and Recreations in December of 2005. Funding for the new site became a priority, and generous funders such as ALCOA-EPC, Dodge Jones Foundation, the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, M.S. Doss, and the Junior Woman’s Club of El Paso all provided the means to make the dreams of Teens in Action a reality. Many thanks are expressed to all those who worked to renovate the building, especially all of the youth, parents and volunteers who spent countless hours repairing the roof, tearing up old tile, installing wooden floor, putting up drywall, painting, installing cabinets, or cleaning. There are so many to thank, the Youth Council Members especially stand out.
